There is Poetry in Your Insects

I like insect jewellery to make me feel a little bit uncomfortable, like something has settled on me and might start crawling. I also think it gives one a rather elegant appearance of absolute stillness, so gracefully static that beetles may land. Click HERE for the full gallery.

Above: three butterfly brooches. The first is genuine blue butterfly wing in silver, and was a birthday present from my mother. The second is a large three-dimensional monster in intricate sterling silver filigree work. He has a conical wire-wrapped body and curly feelers, and dates from around the 1940s (view shop listing). The third is a sweet, and nicely symmetrical, little 1950s Mexican silver butterfly, wings set with abalone shell (view shop listing).
